Our Daam Story

September 29, 2017

The official daam beginning.

Giveadaam Ventures, LLC was started by Marissa Michalkiewicz on September 29, 2017 as a sole proprietorship, for-profit company. Marissa goes by the title, Initiator of the Giveadaam’ers, which is another daam way of saying Founder & Owner. Initially she utilized the LLC to consult for an Architect in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, with the intention of ultimately using the platform for her own future business goals.

The original purpose of Giveadaam Ventures was to introduce affordable and energy-efficient housing options to college students and young professionals in the Green Bay area.

In the Fall of 2018, Marissa consulted with an Architecture firm called Artisans Group out of Olympia, Washington to design a Passive House certifiable 2-family, 5 bedroom, approximately 2,500 square feet of living area property. Shortly after, Marissa connected with Bart Rynish of Barton Designs in Suamico, Wisconsin to discuss constructing the designed property.

In June of 2020 after nearly two and a half years of collaborating with the City of Green Bay’s Redevelopment Authority, Giveadaam Ventures, LLC was deeded a lot at 320 S Webster Avenue in Green Bay. This is the site of Giveadaam’s first official sustainable housing development.

Staged Groundbreaking on November 17, 2020

Almost 7 months after we staged our site groundbreaking, excavation officially began on June 16, 2021.

Due to the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, our subcontractor timelines are even more unpredictable than traditionally expected and our budget has been drastically impacted by the sudden spike in material prices.

Updates regarding the status of our first Giveadaam sustainable housing project will be posted on our TikTok account, which we encourage you to follow.

The goal of Giveadaam Ventures' first property is to be a net-zero energy household. This means that throughout the course of a year, the amount of energy consumed by our Tenants will be offset by the production of energy generated by solar panels on the roof of the Giveadaam property.

To achieve this goal, we started our Sun's Out - Funds Out campaign in an effort to fundraise for the solar panels required to generate the amount of clean, renewable electricity needed to offset the property's anticipated usage. We invite our daam giving community members to help us with this venture by donating to our Sun's Out - Funds Out GoFundMe campaign.
